Our Foundation bank account
What is a Foundation account?
Our Foundation account is a straightforward account designed to help you manage your money. We may offer you this account if you aren't eligible for one of our other bank accounts, or if we feel it’s more appropriate for your circumstances when applying. Please note currently only Ukrainian refugees can apply for this account directly. If you are looking to apply, please visit our Ukrainian refugee support page .
Overdrafts are not available and no interest or charges can be applied.
What are the main features of our Foundation account?
- Bank with no monthly fee.
- You’ll get a contactless Debit Card to make purchases and withdraw cash.
- You can use our mobile banking app to track your bills and spending.
We’ll only offer you our Foundation account if you apply for one of our other bank accounts, but don’t qualify.

Why the Foundation account is more suitable for some customers
If you've encountered difficulties with money before, you may not be eligible for a number of our bank accounts.
However, you might be offered the Foundation account if:
- You have little or no credit history
- You’re going through bankruptcy
- You give us incomplete or inaccurate information when you apply
- You have a low credit score
We know that managing personal finances can be difficult, and improving your credit score is not always easy.
If you're concerned about your finances, you may wish to seek advice from a financial professional, while sites like MoneyHelper can also be a great source of impartial help.
Our Reward account
Earn monthly rewards. For £2 a month you'll get:
- £4 a month back in Rewards for 2 or more Direct Debits (at least £2 each).
- £1 a month back in Rewards with 1 mobile app log in.
